Annual Competitive Grants

We award competitive grants once a year:

The Annual Competitive Grants process is an important way that POCT learns about and supports the work of local nonprofits. This process funds programs that fall within our five focus areas:

  • Physical and Mental Well Being
  • Preservation of Local History & Environment
  • Education
  • Vibrant and Engaged Communities
  • The Arts

The Review

More than 50 reviewers assess the full applications for the Port Orange Community Trust. The reviewers include our staff, members of our regional councils, and our Board of Trustees. The process is highly competitive, with only about one in seven letters of intent receiving funding. It’s important to note that most proposals meet all the minimum requirements. However, our discretionary funding is limited and cannot support every worthy project. That’s why we share the top vetted applications with donors, other funders, and the community.

Please make sure to clearly communicate what sets your organization apart. Understand that the results are not a reflection of the project’s worthiness but rather the constraints of our available resources.
